This was a busy week with trying to fit in all the things in London that we hadn’t managed to see or do yet along with some shopping and packing (unfortunately needed to be out of our apartment by 3rd January) and Christmas.
We went to Leadenhall Market and saw Diagon Alley, visited the Museum of London which the girls and I all thought was just fantastic – one of the best museums we’d been to. It has a great mix of everything from archaeological finds through to the Great Fire, the blitz and then modern costumes and stories of London today. We also went to Borough Market, Imperial War Museum and Tate Modern.
On top of all this we did some Christmas shopping and went to carols at St Martins in the Fields (followed by mince pies and mulled wine in their crypt – yum!)
On Friday we had our first really rainy day and just about got blown away into the Thames ending up soaked through! But to have only had one bad day like this the whole 3 months in London is an absolute bonus. So after meeting Sandhia and family for dinner and drying out the girls had their first black cab ride up to see the Nutcracker Ballet in Leicester Square – lots of fun.
Christmas Eve we met a friend Cath for lunch and then went Ice Skating at Hampton Court Palace – just magic.
On Christmas Day after breakfast and presents at home we drove to Devon and spent a really lovely relaxed Christmas Day with Colin and Sandi and their family…….it wasn’t a White Christmas but given the choice I’d prefer the 3 months of mild weather that we had in London any day!!!
