Our second week we spent getting organised, buying things for the apartment (don’t always believe the Real Estate website when they say ‘just bring your clothes and move in….everything else is provided!’) and exploring locally. We visited Chiswick House and then Syon House and Park as both properties closed for the winter at the end of October. Syon Park is a short walk from where we are living which is great as you feel like you are out in the country not in the middle of London.
Then we had a surprise visit from Mal’s sister, Carol, who had a roster change and flew into London for Thursday night. On Friday, the girls, Carol and I went to Windsor and Eton for the day.
That night we drove to Devon for the week for a friend, Colin’s 50th birthday party. We went for a couple of walks down the gorgeous little country lanes and went to the start of a Fox Hunt. On Sunday Mal and Colin did the Dartmoor Devil bike ride whilst we went for a leisurely drive around the country side and lunch at a country pub.
