As we still had the hire car from the weekend for the day on Monday the girls and I drove up to Hampstead Heath. The autumn colours were lovely and the weather still really mild so the views over London were great. Driving back we detoured past two old houses that Mal and I lived in when we were in London many years ago.
Tuesday found us at the V&A museum…..one of my favourite museums in the world! The girls really enjoyed it as well. And after that we visited Harrods and went on a double decker bus to see the Christmas lights.
On Friday we went back to Southbank again to meet a friend for lunch and at night walked over to Syon House for their amazing Enchanted Woodland display.
Saturday Mal rode his bike over to Greenwich whilst the girls and I caught the train. We had a fabulous day in Greenwich which was much prettier and so much more to do than I’d remembered. Again the weather was just gorgeous.
And Sunday we went to the National Gallery and did the free families tour and then the children’s drawing afternoon. I’m amazed at how many galleries and museums are free in London and how many great activities they have on offer. When we came out of the gallery we were lucky enough to see the Blessing of the Crib and tree in Trafalgar Square….the Christmas atmosphere around the city is just great.
